acording to the danish papers ! "fun at the world show"
14 breeds of dogs may be on way out
The government committee is working dog breeding bans, import bans and muzzles of 14 breeds of dogs
Amstaff is one of the dogs, which dog its recommendation soon may be history in Denmark.
A farewell to the 14 dog breeds.
How can it end if politicians at Christiansborg adopt the prohibition model, the government's dog committee has come forward to learn Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten.
Model assumes that 14 breeds of dogs - such as amstaff and pitbull terrier - are prohibited. This means that races must not be imported or bred and should be phased out as the dogs die of natural causes.
Breeding ban would be enforced by the fact that the 'dangerous' dogs sterilized.
During the transition phase, where the dogs will still exist in Denmark, they must be kept on a leash and wear muzzles when they are aired, learns Jyllands-Posten.
Alternative softer model
Dog Committee could not agree on a recommendation and has also drawn up a model which assumes that dangerous dogs be kept on a leash and muzzled bear, without being subject to an import and breeding ban. Despite being banned political model the warmest reception.
- It is very positive that the dog committee has made a direct prohibition model. Now, I am pleased to see the proposal in its entirety, so I can decide whether it should be implemented, says Liberal welfare spokesman Flemming Moller.
Also Danish People's Party and the Conservative welcomes the model, while the Socialists will not reject it.

Sad sad news - still hoping for the best - but think it is a little bit naive to do so...
But the "specialists" have spoken - serious owners and breeders will be punished if this will be reality..
90% of the population clap their hands for this suggestion - our breed is hated in Denmark. |

| You would think I would get used to hearing this stuff, but I don't. Is this a "done deal", or still something that can be stopped? |

So true! Christina i think first layout will be 28 feb and final wreight after the WDS --- they want the money !!
but if not then its : dog`s sterilized- muzzled- 6.1 fences with double doors / like jails - insurance getting higher - short lines - never free - who knows a breed stop maybe from June --- is this not the same as ban them because shows are over because its public places "muzzled" males no balls / you can`t show then and all you guys have is a dog not able to show any ware wasted years’ work lot of money for all the Danish breeders are lost ----
Even worse are the politicians have not really done there home work but are followed leaded by the Danish newspapers and not reality which is no dog are dangerous or all dogs are , it depends who is in the other end of the leach
As Danish myself but living in spain , I really feel for all the Danish kennels they spend all their money on their loved one and for people who don’t know Denmark 60% tax and vet`s - food - kennels – show entering feed are like 4-5-6 the amount as the US . yes if this happens there should be a boycott this would have a serious imput on the world show
democracy Denmark what a joke |

TCB : First hearing will be the 16 Feb. so they move very fast
and yes a boycut of WDS will be a good thing.
but it is not all right, you can show a male with out balls, if the dog have bin show befor, or if you have document from the vet.
and dog show they rent the place and take money to get in, so it is not a public place.
but still if they end up with a band on my breed i will not show they wath will be the reason to suport the danish kennel club!! |

To boycot and dont enter your dogs at WDS 2010 will only make it worse
and as a breed representative in Denmark (Christina) you shouldnt actually support a boycot!
Why give up before the law is set ?? A lot of people are fighting at the moment to save our breed in Denmark - both the danish terrier club and the danish kennel club. None of those clubs wants ANY breed to be banned but are trying with different restrictions instead. Both clubs are saying it is not the dog but the owner who is the problem.
The danish terrier club are now offering to spend a LOT of money on a TOP lawyer to help us fight against the governement and there will be a "hearing" next week.
So dont give up - help us fighting instead. A boycot will be the worst signal - we have to believe in it and be great ambassadors for our breed!
Personally ofcourse i am afraid of a ban but we have to keep our head up high!
So hope to see you all soon for the WDS

It is really sad that Denmark i going in the total wrong direction in the BSL case..
What happens in Denmark now is also very important for us in Norway, as BSL was a fact in 2004. If the outcom in Denmark is good for the breed, there will be hope here in Norway to change the law..
I totally agree with you Michael, you must never give up this fight!
It is really good that the Terrier club is willing to spend a lot of money. That was unfortanly not tha case here in Norway:-(
I wish you the best of luck theese days. Just keep on working and stress the politicans!

Michael i will not boycott the WDS and i know lot of people how will come now i had time to hear and read things i did not before, and i know the Danish Kennel Club are NOT trying to sale our breed, the band we have now on 2 breeds the Kennel club try to get the politic to stop long time a go but with out luck. so they do work for us and for all breed.
the danish vet union also will not neutralize all these dogs how, if the ban come will have to be neutralize, so i will say we are getting more and more support.
but at the same side i can understand people how will not support a country (if the ban come) then it will be like the old USSR the Government will control all even with dog breed you own. Sad
But that say, it was my grumpy mood coming out in that note, and i can of curs not support boycott or any thing like that. breed representative or not .
i have enter my dogs, so with or with out balls we will come ;o) |
