| Looks like a fawn color eye. I notice with colors of dogs eyes, they usually go with the dog.. Black have most of the time black eyes Or very dark brown where they look black. Fawn dogs will have fawn or tan eyes and I am meaning they can be really dark.. Blues usually have a dark blue or blueish green eye. Reds, black or dark brown. JMO.. What i have noticed on some dogs. |

For AKC showing of American Staffordshire Terriers, you want the eye as DARK as possible (I like to see very dark brown eyes). Light eyes are to be penalized. |

Well if you have an APBT then the eye color does not matter as much as it does for an AmStaff unless your dog's eyes are blue which is a very serious fault.
From the UKC American Pit Bull Terrier breed standard:
EYES - Eyes are medium size, round to almond-shaped, and set well apart and low on the skull. All colors are equally acceptable except blue, which is a serious fault. Haw should not be visible. |

OK In my experiences all puppies are born with blue eyes...............
So has anyone seen a puppy born with one normal blue eye, like normal puppy color(not the ice blue) and then one brown eye???
I have tried to capture a picture of what I am referring to, but the eye color is not picking up well. But I have never seen anything like it before.
ETA: The puppy is blue. So that makes it even more strange to see a brown eye on a 4 week old pup. The eye is not cloudy or anything like that, just looks like it's brown. |

Found article on website about different eyes colors. I thought it was Waardenburg syndrome as i have couple of friends with 2 different colors eyes.. it seems that after looking it up and find that may not be it... But found one called Heterochromia that does happen to be in animals and people... it says
| Quote: |
| In anatomy, heterochromia refers to a difference in coloration, usually of the iris but also of hair or skin. Heterochromia is a result of the relative excess or lack of melanin (a pigment). It may be inherited, or due to genetic mosaicism, or due to disease or injury |
more info on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterochromia or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_color
| Quote: |
Many factors can affect a melanocyte’s well being. For example, an injury during development can cause them to die off. And there are certain diseases that can cause a melanocyte not to develop or migrate to the right spot. The most common is called Waardenburg syndrome.
People with Waardenburg syndrome sometimes having a shock of white hair or two different colored eyes. It is also why some dog breeds can sometimes have two different colored eyes.
Besides lost melanocytes, a less common way to end up with two different colored eyes is when an eye color gene works in one eye but not the other. Two ways that this can happen are called mosaicism and chimerism. |

| That is VERY strange, I have never seen an AmStaff pup with eyes like that. Might want to have him/her checked by CERF just in case? |
