Our boy junior is 21 months old and can't get past 54lbs...

if 54 lbs is normal, why would you want to get him past that weight

I was just making a point to be patient and let them grow. Each and everyone will be different.. Our last dog jack was 68 lbs at 2 years and meaty/blocky as all heck..

Junior is muscular but very very lean. He 10 times quick than our old boy and can jump like a rabbit too.. LOL Just different dogs is all...

I don't think craig meant they was trying to get him pass the weight at all. Just making a example of his dog not getting of the weight.. That was MY opinion of 54pds at 21months.. Craig or others might feel differently.

Yes, craig.. Forsure two different style of dogs from Jack and Jr..

Are you having the shots done by a VET? Is so, then they will ck his stool and see if he has any worms.. If he has worms and you take care of that, then he will put on weight.. Even a healthy active pup shouldn't be showing alot of ribs when they are a pup in my opinion.. Stay on the thin side for some but not to skinny. Let us know how it goes..

it is depend on what brand of food u got.. and how old is he? i feed my dog when she was a pup as much as i could as long as she doesn't get too fat but cut down the feeding when she reach 6/7month old.. i fed her 4 times a day when she was pup. all on puppy food because they have all the nutritional values they need. I have fed her raw food when she was 10months old.. she did lose weight when being fed on raw.. i now feed her 100% natural meat.. Usually in the back, the ingret says min 72%meat or whatever..
she is now at nice weight that i am happy with..

When puppy look sick or not happy it doesn't means you're not looking after her/him well.. it could means that the pup is not well or have something inside her/him that we can't see and thats why it is always wise to take them to the vet.
I deworm my dog regular.. not because she have worm but it is prevention of getting worm and it stopped her from losing weight easily.. dogs can catch anything from their walk.. If your pup had not had any shots then please do so quickly because of "provail" disease.. they can kill pup/dogs. If your dog is very active.. then he/she would need more food as they burn out all the calories

from my experience through other dogs and vet internship... all animals conditions improves when they have all the shots and treatments (worming, fleas) they need and from my own experience with my dog - finding the correct food brand does help.
