Last night, my foundation bitch Skye passed away at 15 years of age. She was truly a great in the X-Pert bloodline. Not because of her show wins, because I never specialed her. It was because of the wonderful, healthy puppies she produced.
Skye was nanny to all my pups, queen of the household and my bed buddy for all of her 15 years. There will never be another like her. She was a good girl, never chewed anything she have and commanded the respect of all the other dogs.
May you rest in peace my beautiful girl...
Skye at 8 years of age...

No, she was not ill. She was a disgustingly healthy dog. I feed raw. She ate her dinner without chewing her bone. She swallowed a pork riblet and it got stuck at the bottom of her esophagus. My choice was to pay the vet almost $1200 to remove the bone without any surgery, $2200 if surgery was required.
Like an old soldier, Skye was beginning to fade away. I didn't think at her age, Skye could tolerate surgery. So, I made the hard choice and asked to have her put down. Before doing so, I had the vet draw a blood sample and take a cheek swab, so I could have her status determined in regard to Ataxia. It is my hope that Skye will continue to be a credit to the breed and to her bloodline. |

Thanks for be so honest... Very Sad. I know it was a very very hard choice. You did what you had to. She will RIP knowing she was loved so very much. |

| I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have expressed their condolences regarding Skye's passing. I picked up her ashes last night and I guess I have to accept that she is gone now. She is with my guardian angel watching over me. Thank you all, your support has helped me to get through this sad time. |
