the law here has changed for the good but...
for all breeds are the same rules now. they look no longer at the outside of the dog, but at the inside. if a dog bites, big or small, the person can go to the police and your dog wil be registrated. if it happens again within two months than you have a problem, they can take your dog. a friend of mine has an rottweiler and he bit a boy. he didn't bite hard but he bit though. now he is registerd. an has a two month trail so to say. |

Yes, but the 'funny' part of the new situation:
- If a dog shows agressive behaviour, it can be submitted to a test
- The test is actually very very similar to the old behavior test that was mandatory for amstaffs, the MAG test
- As lots of pedigree amstaffs have passed that test, they are almost safe to begin with, probably wouldn't even have to do the test again
Now of course there still isn't a really good new regulation and practice for this, but it seems as if this may actually become the rule, so an owner of an amstaffs that did the MAG test needs to have less fear than the owner of, well lets say a Jack Russell. |

yes that is verry true. i'm so glad that the old law isn't there anymore, becaus my dog is born when the law was still active. as you know, dogs from shelters in holland have no papers. when they do the papers are destroyed and you must sign a contract that you can't apply for them anymore.
i work for the dutch anymal protection acency, de dierenbescherming. (don't konw how to translate in good english) and i have come across many dogs that have no papers. i have also seen the shelters from the government, not verry nice. still as we speak dogs are beiing relased every day from those shelters. they are ill, affraid and sas. so it is a good thing that the old law is no more. |
