Mud engineer is oil field slang for a drilling fluids technician.
I test and maintain the drilling fluid or "mud" that is pumped down the drill pipe and out the bit and back up the hole as a oil/gas/water well is being drilled.
This "mud" is of varying thickness and weight. It must be of adequate "thickness" (viscosity) to clean the hole of the drilled cuttings and must be of proper weight (density) to prevent down hole pressures from reaching the surface (a "blowout"), and must have various chemical and physical properties to keep the hole in good shape while it is being drilled.
I am not a mud logger. It's the LOGGER that looks at the cuttings and figures out what formation is being drilled. A mud engineer takes care of the fluid that brings those cuttings out of the hole.
I could help Maureen drill an oil or gas well (or even a water well!)

That sounds like what my husband says! He calls himself a "Senior Water Diversion Technician" He has gone as far as putting that on our phone book ads as well. People call just because of his fancy title he gave himself! LOL |

After 18 years of IT consultancy, I'm an account (relationship) manager now with TSYS in the Netherlands. TSYS HQ are in Columbus GA (Go Dawgs!) and does credit card processing. Not booming business at the moment if not for an incredible international expansion.
BTW unemployment in the Netherlands is still one of the lowest around |

I'm a commercial manager of an Italian company from the textile industry. We are manufacturing sweaters for companies like Kenzo, Andreea Fenzi, Marina Rinaldi or Giorgio Armani. (sometimes for the French or British Army).
Tomorrow I should make a plan to restrain our budget. The only option is to cut our employees earnings. I hate this. I'm 25 yrs and I have lots of gray hairs. I'm thinking to quit from April and I will do some physical work for a period, maybe in the construction business in the mountains. I really don't know..... It sucks. |

| I used to be a ski instructor, white-water rafting guide, a cook and a travel agent. Now I have a boring office job working in a mobility/internet call center. Who knows what's next? |
