we fed proplan for years and it was pretty good.. When we moved to VA the price was 10 bucks higher a bag and the pups was having trouble with it. I don't know if it was different or not but something was going on with it.

I also found out that Diamond dog food and many others are going up in price on july 6th. 1.50 to 3.00 a bag.. Stock up if you buy alot. Some place around here already raised theirs so they can make the extra buck. What jerks. LOL

Ph1ngering, please let me know how the BLUE food works for you. I have considered swapping to it from Canidae. What was the pricing on it by 20 or 40lb bags in your area?

If memory serves me correct it was 34 bucks for a 40 pounder... Which will last me with only one dog a while.. Online you see it for 40 bucks a bag..

I first heard about it when we were looking for a high protein low carb diet for our last dog Jack. The vet said to cut as many carbs as we could be cause cancer cells uses carbs for food.. Or something to that effect..

So far so good, Junior likes it..

Just found this site listing foods and rating them. Don't quite know what the basis for the rating is, but thought you might be interested.
There surely are a lot of brands I've never heard of

i feed my pup Orijen Puppy too Smile and whilst I havent done the grading, from reading the description of the ingredients i think it would probably score quite high.

actually the way they describe it, kinda makes me wanna try it....mmm

In place of grains, ORIJEN PUPPY contains a full compliment of regional fruits and vegetables including sweet and russet potatoes, black currants and sunflower from the prairie farms, apples and cranberries from the interior orchards, and sea vegetables from the pacific tidal range. While providing limited carbohydrate, these fruits and vegetables supply vitamins, macro and micro minerals and important protector nutrients in a natural, bioavailable form.

Fresh, unrendered chicken and fish oils provide a superior source of essential fatty acids that dogs cannot produce themselves (including DHA and EPA) and nutritionally support the development of cell membranes and immune systems as well as vibrant skin and hair coat,—your puppy's outer symbol of health and vitality.

Bridging the gap between good nutrition and total physical well-being, ORIJEN PUPPY contains veterinarian selected botanicals that include psyllium and chicory root, dandelion, sweet fennel and peppermint leaf — all of which replicate the natural canine diet and help to soothe, nourish and tone the digestive tract, strengthen the liver and control insulin levels.
