| What is everyone's thoughts on the third eye lid showing on an Amstaff that will be shown in the AKC ring. Is this a serious, morerate or minor fault for the breed and will the dog have a hard time winning points because of it? Anyone have experience in showing and breeding a dog with the third eye lid showing? Is it a dominant trait that passes on or what? |

It's probably only considered a minor fault.
I was always under the impression that the third eye becomes visible when the dog is not as healthy as it could be. |

Really its a health issue? Someone please give me more info on this because I thought that his third eye lid was showing due to genetics and not a health problem. What kind of health problem causes the lids to show? The sire of this pup had the third eye lids showing all his life but the dam did not. So I just thought my pup took after his fathers eyes? I am wrong about this?
Both the sire of the pup and the pup itself live inside as house dogs so they don't get dirt and junk in their eyes or anything. No allergies either to anything. |

If the father has always been like that then I would say he got it from him..
I had a male that showed the third eye lid and had it checked by a specialist and then I found out others in his line had it aswell..
Then I had a female that had it and took her to a specialist and hers was being caused by something in the air... Gave her drops every now and then and it would clear it right up...
But most likely if the parent has the issue, then I would say it genetic.. JMO My males stayed like that and we never had a problem with it and his father is now 10 and they never had a problem with it.. |

Yes, It is the red that you see coming up for the corner of the eye.
I had a couple dogs that were related have it. You don't really notice it bad and i don't think it would hurt you in the ring.. Depends how bad it was I guess. |
