Hello. A have an amstaff boy at 2 years and sometimes his eyes turn red. We have tried different leashes (sorry for spelling, I'm from Sweden) but they still turn red after and during the walk. Sometimes he wakes up in the morning with red eyes.
I've noticed that he drinks very little so I have to mix his food with water to get him to drink at all...I have tried different waterbowls etc..
*Note that his eyes ain't constantly red*
May his drinking issue be the acctual problem and have any of you had the same problem? |

I haven't come across this with either of my boys.
But sounds like it could be allergy's.. Someone one here might have some advice.. |

During and after walks I would say he is pulling and they get hot. When I walk a dog and they pull, their eyes will get like bloodshot.. If that is what you are talking about. |

He walks very good with loose leash, he might pull some times but not often. He gets red eyes when we have him without leash aswell. Even though it's very hot outside he can just refuse to drink for many hours and he is breathing heavily with his tongue drooling outside of his mouth, showing that he is thirsty. He does however drink if I mix his food with water and if I take water in my hands and put them to his mouth, then he can drink a whole pond.. |

| That is weird. I would have him checked out. I would make sure he doesn't have a heart issue or something. Just to be on the safe side of things. |

That would be very kind of you, but I guess you live in he US, I live in Sweden which kinda is the other side of the world 
We have had some warm days here and I have noticed that he will drink more now since the heat and the eyes doesn't get red when he drinks enough. If he will stop drinking again I will take him to the vet. |

I think meadowbrooks meant that you should take him to the vet...
The dog i am looking after does have bloodshot too... i notice that when she gets tired or worn out from long walk she get little bloodshot..
I think it is the blood pressure pumping around fast that create bloodshot? Or allergy to pollen.
or it could be something link to their brain... few years back when i had a cat. He bump into pillar and one of his eyes turned red.. but his eyes went back to normal few days later |

Oh! I read too fast 
His eyes have been better this week and i think the pollen season is over now.. hmm can it be some kind of allergy? i'll have him checked out asap |

 thats ok...
Yeah it could be allergy/ hayfever.. don't know if dogs get hayfever but mine does sneeze sometime when i smell flowers aroma in the air.. |
