I want to keep my dogs socialized and take them out in public. I like to take them on walks and out to Petsmart, Lowes, etc. Because of the DA issue how do you deal with other people who let their dogs go right up in your dog's face. I have even been in a vets office where a woman let her pomeranian run around without a leash and when my dog was led out from the back the little dog was up in her face instantly. Luckily, Kirra does not show any signs of DA but she is only 15 months old.

My bigger problem is my other dog. He is a lab/dalmation mix and he does not really care for other dogs. He is fine as long as the other dog is being controlled on a leash but he does not want them running up to him. Recently I was out walking him on a leash and a dog that was not on a leash and was not controlled by its owner ran up to us and my dog lunged at it.

So far, no DA has been exhibited by either of my pittie females. So, any suggestions for dealing with other dog owners?

It sucks when you have to deal with irresponsible owners.. All you can do is tell them to get their dogs away from yours or there could be trouble. I don't know if I have a dog here that would allow that. Got a couple that would have grabbed that little fur ball and it would have been done. Of coarse you know if that happens, they will blame you and your dog. Some people need to learn the hard way I guess. Just keep control of your dog and that is all you can do. Even a dog that is not DA will snap at a dog in their face. All we can do is control our dogs and hope others will do the same. You can not control others and their stupidity. IMO
