lol the minute you whack up a litter notice you can bet the inept will start emailing with mind numbing questions....
I always get a chuckle when ppl will bend over and pat my dogs ( get a face full of dog tongue and slobber) and they say something like " oh they are so friendly...nothing like them nasty pit bull things u see on the news"
My husband will roll his eyes because he knows we will now be there for the next 20 minutes while i give them a quick run down on the breed and how it came to be lol |

I had my Amstaff with me out at the park and some woman asked me if her was a pit bull. I said 'He's an amstaff," and proceeded to tell her the differences between APBTs and Amstaffs. So at the end of the conversation she asks, "Is it the APBT or the Amstaff that's brain outgrows it's skull and makes it go crazy?"
... I think my hysterical laughter freaked her out a bit. I then told her that it was a myth, nothing more. So she just gave me a dirty look and walked away. Oh well. |

my husband and i recently took Luna (our AST) for a walk in downtown charleston. I stayed further back from my husband and Luna (he walks to fast, and i'm tiny so Luna just pulls me where ever she wants to go) and well i watched the reactions from people, and i was amazed at some of the people. There were some that would look at her and take the long way around, and of course the parents that grabed their children out of the way. I was so happy with this one family. Their young daughter, maybe 7 or 8 years old, started to walk towards Luna, her parents stopped her and told her that she needed to walk slowly so as not to startle her. And they actually let her pet Luna, and even play with her a little. The parents were very open about their daughter learning about different dogs. It was just awesome that finally someone was not afraid just because of her looks! |

| I'm a new AmStaff owner but at least i'm not one that is an idiot. Which speaking of i took my 6 wk old pup to PetSmart to buy him some toys and this couple asked if they could pet him, of course i let them. After about 2 mins they asked if Chevy was a bull dog! i laughed and said no that he was an AmStaff. The look i got could have KILLED! It was funny that they thought that he was the sweetest and cutest puppy until they found out what breed he was. People who judge a dog breed becuase of stories really make me mad. |

I know a stupid question Amanda (Mount Brier Farms) was asked...it was when I was with her and she took me to a show in Bozoman, MT along with her dog Jack (Mt. Brier's Captain Jack Sparrow). Back then, cause his rear was growing faster than his front, and he had more rear angulation than the front could handle at that time, he would pick his front legs up...it was almost like hackney action. Amanda called it pounding but as I look in the book Dogsteps, unless I am sorely mistaken that is not what it was. I remember Jack's feet landing softly where according to that book, they land with a thud.
Nonetheless, that's not my point.
Some guy came up to her and was like "Did you teach him to do that?"
Amanda looked at him like he was a moron xD
Do you remember that guy, Mandy? |

Gosh, I have had people ask if my dogs were Great Danes,,,ummm NO
I had one man ask if the dog could breathe with it's muzzle on??? DUH
I get all the usual "do they bite? have they bitten anyone? would we fight them?"
I was going to move a few months ago but the area has a pit ban, so of course I wouldn't go. One bright guy told me to just disguise the dogs!!!
I had visions of people with pits etc walking around with those funny glasses (with the bushy eyebrows and big nose) on their dogs....
And the brightest guy I met asked if Bones was 'into' fighting? (he had known her parents and knew she was the only one left from that line) I said NO she was more into laying around being lazy and having cuddles...
He said 'her parents would be disappointed in her if they knew that'
!!!!!!!!!!!
I was going to offer to walk him home just incase he got lost on the way,,,I don't think he had all his brain cells working... |
