This is Mt. Brier's Fire In The Sky "Ozzy" (red/white son of Multi CH Royal Court King Of The King HD:B/B, AD:0/0). He is 8 months old in these pictures and this is the very first time that he has ever met a cat let alone a kitten.
We used to have cats before we had Ozzy as a house dog but gave them away to family members because at the time we just didn't have time for dogs and the 3 cats too (not enough attention to go around for everyone). But we found a cat dead (feral) out in our woods and she was obviously a nursing mother so we were on the look out for a litter of kittens around since the cat had been hanging out around our farm for months and likely hid her kittens here. The next night we found a litter of 5, inside a hole in the wall of our barn. They were screaming bloody murder so were very easy to find and of course there was only the one hole in the wall so we knew exactly where they were. Ozzy was very interested in them when I brought them inside (they stayed in a cat carrier on top of his crate) and he was always checking out the crate and licking the gate so I let him play with them. He seems to have found new friends It is funny, when I bottle feed the kittens they get loud mewing and Ozzy comes tearing into the living room to check on "his" babies. He cleans them and plays with them by laying down on the floor and nosing them over. Of course he licks them silly but I try to keep him from doing too much of that since the kittens don't need to be slobbered all over and wet.
The other inside dogs that I rotate out met the kittens and were in love with them, probably because they were older dogs who had already been with our past 3 kitties.[/b]

Honestly, now that I do have the time for kitties, I think we will keep one of the orange tabby females and MAYBE the black/white male (who has additional thumbs - too cute, I love thumb cats!). Ozzy loves them more than anything in the world, they are his peak interest in the house and I think he would really enjoy having one of them stay here for good as would I since it's REALLY HARD to not get attached to them bottle feeding them everyday. |

More shots of Ozzy with the kittens There are pine shavings scattered all over the place which is what is in the "potty" box for the kittens in their 400 series kennel. It seems to get all over the place.

What you are seeing on the carpet is PINE SHAVINGS (in the kittens kennel like I originally said on my post at the top). Every single time I get the kittens out, they have pine shavings stuck to their feet and leg fur (long fur). I have to get them out to feed every 3 hours so there is no point in vacumming it up, as they will just get more shavings all over the carpet anyhow within a few hours I just vacuum at the end of the day and then the kitties get it covered in shavings all over again the next morning when I feed them.

That was a very nice thing to do(saving them kittens), the dog looks pretty nice too! When I first saw the pics I thought that you were breeding cats too. LOL...

Oh no, I don't think I would ever want to breed cats, LOL. I mean, I like most cats and all, but dogs are my thing.... |
