 |
|
I'm not sure how many people are using this product for flea/tick protection, but I have to share my experience.
I have a rescue here who was bald from demodex when I got her. After being on Ivomec for over 6 months, she finally had 2 clean scrapings. She was put on Promeris every 2 weeks to keep the mites away. She continued to have clear scrapings, so we dropped it down to once a month. No problems at all, her skin has been clear for over a year now.
Monday evening I put her Promeris on. Tuesday night, around 1am, I heard her causing a racket in her crate. I check on her, and she was violently twitching every 5 seconds or so. She would twitch so hard she would literally fall down, and look at her legs in confusion. This continued for 4 hours, with the no relief. It looked like she was about to start seizing. I finally realized it could have been the Promeris. So I gave her several baths with Dawn, as the product is waterproof. Within 30 minutes after the bath, she had mostly stopped twitching. This morning she was mostly back to normal. There is no way she could have ingested the product orally.
This morning she went into the vet, who agreed it was most likely an adverse reaction. After doing some reading, the vet said that this is NOT an uncommon reaction, and they are discontinuing the sale of the product at the animal hospital immediately.
I just wanted to share, so hopefully someone else won't have to go through this with their pet =) |

| promeris is not a product we sell in my clinic either. I would also be weary of Vectra 3D we saw alot of side effects with this as well and discontinued selling it. |

| Unfortunately some products against flea/tick are worse than what they prevent. We had problems with the Scalibor colar and with frontline as well, not as bad as this, but still we try to use natural products now |
