 |
|
So about 3 months ago I noticed what I thought were puppy warts in juniors mouths. This morning junior went to the vet and she confirmed it. She said surgery is an option later 6 months down the road if they don't go away on their own.
I am just looking to get more information on how long they are contagious, what I should keep an eye on ect.. Any general info about them or experiences..
I heard that they are contagious for 2 weeks one place and another place said they are contagious till they are gone.. |

Almost positive, as i have checked most of the other dogs Junior plays will..
But he is in training classes too and doggy day care so really any dog he meet could have passed them.
researching now.. |

Ok after a ton of research here are some highlights...
1. Can happen in puppys from 3 - 24 months old, usually only happen to very social dogs, play groups ect..
2. Develop in there mouth and around the nether region
3. Can lasts for 4-12 months
4. Usually go away on there own once the dogs immune systems kicks in.
5. Vets typically will try to lance one to try and jump start the immune system.
6. They don't hurt the dog except in sever cases where the get very big in the mouth.
7. Vets can do surgery to remove in sever cases.
8. Vets can take a sample of one and create a vaccine specifically for that dog.
9. Some cases a antibiotic can help them go away.
10. They are contagious usually for 1-2 months to younger dogs.
I'll take a picture of them tonight and post it. They are funky looking but don't seem to bother Junior at all. We are going to keep an eye on them closely and take it step by step..
Thought I would share my info..
