Tica and I are in Beginner II class, and we both LOVE it. At the end of every class, which is regular obedience, the instructors have started bringing out an agility obstacle. What fun!
The first week it was the tunnel...it took 2 times of me crawling in the far end (thank God no videos popped up on You Tube! LOL) and calling/coaxing praising her thru, but she did it.
This week it was the tire jump. Had to coax her thru the first time, and the second time we ran up on it and she jumped right thru.
I know this is no big deal to the experienced agility folks here, but to a novice like me, I gotta tell ya, it is FUN and exciting, and great to see Tica loving every second of it. I think we are going to really enjoy exploring this avenue of the dog world! |

| Agility is definitely something AmStaffs love! I would encourage you to look into further training. You will enjoy it too as long as you don't have any physical injuries that would prevent you from running and turning quickly. |

I can't wait to try it! I think I have finally found a place local to us that has the equipment and a good reputation...now to find a babysitter for the human child LOL!
Thanks for sharing, it sounds FUN!! |

We haven't been able to take an introduction to agility class yet, but we have been having fun in the woods being creative anyway. Aside from jumping over fallen trees, which he loves, yesterday I was holding out a stick for him to chomp on and instead he chose to jump over it lol felt like a circus act. Another time he followed a Spaniel up onto a huge boulder, now he jumps up every time (he is face to face with me and I am 5 foot 8, just to give you an idea how high the rock is):
King of the rock, strike a pose!

Ok, now how do I get down?

We were accepted into and begin Intro to Performance Sports (Agility, Flyball etc) on April 8th, I'll let you know how it goes. Since it is an evening course, maybe I can even get my son to drag along and take some pics as it progresses. I am VERY excited!
And of course now that Tica is swimming every day again, I'm going to try and borrow a neighbor's dock and see how the dock diving comes along, if she'll attempt that as well! |

Congrats!!!
Man, I am loving it!! We just got started a bit ago... been through Agility 101 and now we're in Agility 102. It really is exciting to see them figure something out, huh? We're taking our girl Stryka through it and Kendra is taking Kovani through it. Kendra has said "I've got the bug!" Kovani is SO fun to watch! I've determined that every Amstaff should be doing agility!
Have so much fun! I can't wait to see your pictures!! |

Yes! I just got an e-mail that the UKC is having Dock Diving at the Spring Fair and you can register for 1 round to try it out! I am definitely going! Best of luck with your class! |
