More appropriately.........Boooooooo Miami/Dade! The rest of the state does a pretty good job with accepting and non-discriminating against our breed. Yes, I'm disappointed but not surprised at the outcome in that part of the state. I would love to know the demographics of those involved in not passing the bill. Bob

HB 997, which would repeal the breed ban in Miami-Dade (thereby treating all Florida municipalities and citizens equally), was postponed at second reading on March 2. It has been rescheduled for second reading on March 5. This could potentially set it up for a full House vote on March 6—barring any further delays.
Unfortunately, the legislative session ends on March 9, and the bill still has to go to the Senate side even if it passes the House. The continued delays have made the bill unlikely to pass without heroic measures. For more information: http://stopbsl.com/2012/03/05/florida-h ... g-march-5/ - - Anne

DARN IT!!
The Florida legislature wrapped up on March 9. HB 997 / SB 1322, which would have repealed Miami-Dade’s breed ban, did not make it. HB 997 was waiting on a second hearing, and SB 1322 was stuck in a subcommittee. http://stopbsl.com/2012/03/10/florida-l ... 1322-dead/ - - Anne

I say they should vote to repeal the commissioners who wouldn't repeal the ban.

Miami-Dade Commissioners voted 3-1 to allow the ordinance banning pit bulls to go before voters in the August 14th county primary election...which historically has the LOWEST voter turn out:

Most recent article asking voters if they want to repeal:

If I'm reading things correctly, the ban still remains in place.

yeah and those who were against the repeal listened to collene... because i've seen quite few of the comments that brought up dogsbite... it will end but when is the question
People who asks question are idiot for 5 minutes and those who never asks remain idiot

Not only that, I read it was a mere 16% voter turn-out. That's why the county tacked it onto the August ballot, they knew no one would be out voting in the middle of a Florida summer!
