Kris she has a wonderful head, love the full underjaw, and what a fantastic stop...love the fact that she is cheeky yet still most definitely feminine. Very nice!

The amstaff muzzle today is drastically morphing into a boxer, or even snub nosed. Its a shame to see because where does it say in the STCA standard that the amstaff should start looking like a Boxer or be snub nosed? Nowhere. Its bad breeding, and bad outcrossing that is hapening to this great breed. The dogs of the past all had their different styles, Ruffian, Gallant, Xpert, but they were all on standard.

I think sometimes people kind of overgeneralize with " boxerish"- is that a word??? Sometimes I think they're refering to the color similarities. I gotta figure out how to post pictures...Sophie has a snoot shaped and shaded kind of Amstaff/GSD. You might say boxer colors, but certainly not pushed in or shortened.

Your girls muzzle is good and moderate, which is what it should be. I was talking about AST's in general today. boxerish may not be a word but thats what most AST are looking like today. Color may be the case too. But all AST in the past the greats were brindle, and all had different styles to them, tacoma, ruffian, xpert ect, but they were all on standard. You never saw boxer coloration, or snub nosed, muzzles. We have to be careful how we breed. I dont want to loose this breed to bad breeding.

The muzzles on many dogs are not EXACTLY like a Boxer, but they are approaching that "look". It is very incorrect, but many breeders are taken with this short-muzzled "look". It doesn't take much and the dog completely loses type, not "looking" like the breed at all! Many of these dogs have these big, rounded top-skulls too and DEEP stops with very little underjaw. What people see as underjaw is just fleshy stuff down there.

Okay, yes....And approaching that look is dangerous turf for the breed. I see many dogs with alot of head fault as you have mentioned. but I also see loose feet, bad tail settings and shallow chests, too tall, ect.....its not just the head, or muzzle. I just hate seeing the breed suffer because of breeders being "taken" with a certain look. If it doesnt match up with the standard in the STCA, than its off standard, thats it.

There are not any perfect dogs but at the same time a long muzzle is just as incorrect as a shorter muzzle.. Med length muzzle.. A shepard is consider a long muzzle so compare them. Most amstaff that you think might be short, I don't think so. Yes that are MANY other issues that are going on.. Height! Chest and so on.. Look at the pick of what the STCA as for their dog on their site and tell me that is a correct dog. It is not in MANY ways!!!!

Some people just make amstaff rules when it suits them. Do your own thing in your own yard.

finally someone with honesty and common sense .in australia this stupid breed study is now known as the extended breed standard used to judge our breed . critiques by judges at specialties here now read "according to the extended breed standard the dog ...............
this should only be used as reading material just the same as any other document . NOT AS A REPLACEMENT for our breed standard

Just look at the *beep* pic that is used for the study..lol It is not even a correct dog. Look at who wrote it and so on. It is joke and NO breed study should be being used EVER.. It is no different then any one person written a article. It is Opinion and in this case not even a good one.. I CAN"T believe you all are even using the bull C rap.. I feel sorry for you all. Ours wasn't even approved and it is ones person opinion... You will learn over here that Are STCA are a group of friends and IF someone one does get voted in by MEMBERS they don't and won't last at ALL.. They do as they say and follow the group or they get forced out and then the BOARD puts in who they want. We don't have a say when they pull that stunt. And It has happened EVERY time they get someone in that they didn't want. You can ask the ones that got forced out.. GREAT people try to make it work and DIDN"T.. Say it was just what I said it was. A JOKE.. A group a friends with a agenda. It is NOT a membership club but a board club. It will NEVER change and our breed will keep getting hurt until ALL of them are gone and fresh honest people are up there.
