My 7 1/2 old pup has these sudden burst of energy whilst playing in the yard. Out of no where she will start running in circles and sprint from one end of the yard to another 5-6 times. I actually enjoy watching her do this but am worried she will hit something and injure herself. Its like she hits the supercharge button.

Any reason for this or is she just being a pup and showing off to me maybe ???

Sudden burst of energy.

These are what we call the zoomies. My 8 year old still does it sometimes. Nothing to be worried about, just releasing energy.

Yup! The zoomies... get used to it, lol!

My boy is 2.5yrs and still zooming after every walk, bike ride or play session. It really is hilarious to watch!!

Haha! The "zoomies", "having a nutty", "acting like a lunatic". Yes, very normal in our breed, and it still makes me chuckle every time someone posts about experiencing it for the first time! My girl is almost 10 and will still do it, given the off leash opportunity. Just have to be careful of the old joints and keep them well lubed up. :D Bob

Actually, we call it "The tick" in my house. It usually goes "Oh man, Sadie's got the tick again, everyone up on the couch!" lol!

I've seen a pitty themed t-shirt that says "Got Zoomies???", I don't remember which site but that sums it up rather nicely. It just seems to be a terrier related behavior...this ginourmous burst of running like a nutjob. It's fun to watch, they're so darn happy doing it...just move any breakables or humans that tend to topple out of the way!

Hahahahaha....the 'kids' normally chase each other through the living room, slide across the kitchen floor, then in the other end of the living room, out the back door, lap the garden a couple of times & then back in the door & start again!

Oh I forgot...you know when they get it big time? Right out of the tub...when they get a bath and go tearing down the stairs and making huge leaps around the living room. When it's warm I let her out in the yard...but it's like " I AM clean WHHHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!"

LOL yes, right after a bath! Taz scoots around slipping & sliding and if I'm not quick with the bathroom door he keeps jumping in and out of the dirty bath water too

Lol I love zoomies, Harley doesn't do them much any more but Bella does all the time. Her and Harley actually did it separately last night after I had just gotten home and it's normally around the lounge room! Makes me laugh so much :D [smilie=117_running_dog.gif]
