Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if any one has ever come across this. My Girl seems to have some sort of skin irritation. She seems to get bumps all over her skin. The vet has looked at them and given her allergy medicine. It did seem to help but it made her have to take in loads of water. Accidents were frequent. Does any one know what these bumps are and is there any home remedy that exists to avoid medication? Thanks for your help. |

Most vets won't just give you allergy medicine. You should find out the cause first... the skin issue is usually just an outward expression of something going on internally. How old is she? What food are you feeding? Alot of dogs (probably all but some disagree so we'll stick with "alot of") don't do well on grains. Try switching to a grain-free food... we really like EVO
Hope that helps... |

| my dog Tonka currently has similar bumps. we brought him to the vet and they said it was a staff infection. i think she called it "scala-derma". i know that spelling must be incorrect. the bacteria is present on the dogs skin and it gets into scrapes and scratches that dogs get from playing or scratching . the vet told us some dogs are prone to it and eventually build up a resistance as they get older. they gave us prednezon for the inflamation and an antibiotic medicine and shampoo its seems to be taking care of it quickly. |

small bumb all over under the skin sound to like
Leishmania is a life- threatening condition for cats and a zoonosis , ie . a disease that can infect between animals and humans. The risk of transmission between animals and humans is minimal.
Leishmania is a tiny one -cell parasite that can cause disease leishmaniose . Leishmaniose transmitted by sand fly ( phlebotomus papatasi ), which include found in Mediterranean countries , Hungary and the region around Paris. Sand fly do not yet live in nothen counties because it needs warmer climates in order to reproduce. The fly is small, silent and especially active at sunrise and sunset - it leaves a painful but very itchy loose connector.
Because sand fly found in Mediterranean countries , such as . Spain and Greece are very important to protect your dog against sandfluens plugs if you need to south through the holidays. You can protect your dog against leishmaniose using a flea repellent product that protects against sand flies. Ask your vet for advice , so you get the right flea agent. Imported dogs from example . Greece , Spain and other Mediterranean countries has increased the risk of being infected with Leishmania . There is unfortunately already seen several cases of imported dogs who have been disease outbreaks, although they have been tested negative for the disease before they were adopted to their family.
Incubation period , ie . the time it takes from the dog becomes infected, the dog exhibits signs of Leishmania can vary from 3 months to 7 years. Because of slow disease development , an infected, but really healthy dog can carry infectious substances in his body , and is therefore a so-called healthy carriers, who are a danger to its species.
Leishmania can be spread between humans , dogs and other animals. The disease can infect a variety of ways : usually sticks sand fly host, whereby it absorbs the parasite by sucking blood - then transmitted the disease to another animal or human who fly sticks . More rarely transmitted Leishmania directly via blood or directly from the pregnant bitch for the puppies in the womb.
Parasite attacking a certain type of White blood cells in the dog's immune system and can cause various forms of illness. There are three ways in which Leishmania can emerge : a cutaneous form of the disease attacks the dog's skin ; A mucocutan form where the disease attacks the transition between mucous membranes and skin, for example . area in the corners of his mouth and a visceral form of the disease attacks the body's organs. Although the disease is divided into these three types of disease found throughout the body and affects mostly the liver, spleen , kidneys , skin and eyes.
Since leishmaniose attacking the whole body , there may be numerous signs that your dog has leishmaniose : weight loss , fatigue and exercise intolerance , anorexia , skin changes , ulcers who have a hard time to heal, persistent diarrhea, hair loss, dandruff , deformed nails , excessive spleen , Swollen lymph nodes, the large spleen , kidney inflammation , persistent bleeding , arthritis , lameness and ocular changes may be signs of Leishmania . The disease may also prove more diffuse - this dog can not recover from common ailments despite treatment . In many cases, dogs too get secondary diseases , ie . adjacent diseases because the body slowly becomes more and more weakened.
You must have suspected Leishmania , if your dog is imported or has been on holiday south and if it has signs by the veterinarian difficult to treat.
People can recover from leishmaniose - it can not, unfortunately, dogs , since dogs' illness is more complicated. In dogs leishmaniose reversible and can be subclinical , ie . the disease can flare up at times , while in other periods did not bother the dog, the disease often is detected relatively late in the cycle.
It is difficult to diagnose Leishmania , because there are many ways to test whether the dog has the disease veterinarian will therefore , in each case , assess which tests are most security can tell if your dog has Leishmania . There is no test with 100 % certainty can tell that the dog is free of the disease , therefore we can never be sure that an imported dog is free . If your dog tested negative for the disease, despite a strong suspicion that your dog is sick, the dog should be retested at a later date. Leishmaniose is fatal if the disease is not treated and you can not vaccinate against it.
