The AmStaff Is Truly an American Treasure

There are certain breeds of dogs that truly bring about a feeling of national pride when they are mentioned. The American Staffordshire Terrier, often referred to as the AmStaff, is such an example. This beautiful dog is one of several breeds that fall into the pitbull family of dogs.

This unusual dog is the combination of the bull and terrier breeds of dog and was first bread in Birmingham in England. Despite its breeding at this location, this quickly became an American dog too, many of those who purchased and read the dogs. This is how its name quickly evolved into becoming an American treasure.

What many people like about this dog is that it’s temperament is not what you would find with the average pitbull. These are very friendly dogs, but are still incredibly loyal to their owner. It is the more good-natured disposition of these animals that has quickly made them one of the most attractive canines to purchase by those who like the pitbull dog.

In addition, these are shorthaired pets which mean that you do not have to worry about the traditional issues that come with many dogs. The dog’s hair is so short, so you do not need to take it for a Gold Coast hair removal to be able to keep your dog from shutting all over your home. These are truly amazing dogs that are the perfect family pet.

In terms of size, the AmStaff gets to be about 18 to 19 inches in height and its life expectancy can be up to 12 years old. They are quite allergic to different kinds of skin allergies, and will get urinary tract infections somewhat frequently. However, with the proper care of your dog you will find that it does not take much to keep it healthy and happy.
